"Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us."

   Hebrews 12:1

So, a person has confessed Jesus as their Lord and called out to Him to be saved.  What happens next?

Christianity is a lifelong walk that starts at regeneration (being born-again).  In order to walk out a lifetime relationship with Jesus there are several things that are both helpful and necessary.

1.  Find a good Bible believing and teaching church.  The importance of this step cannot be stressed enough.  Church is where a new believer is taught, encouraged, and oftentimes used in ministry.  Pray about what church to attend and be faithful and actively involved.  You might introduce yourself to the pastor and tell him about your new decision for Jesus.  If you are a Christian you might recommend a good church to new believers.

2.  Fall in love with the Bible - God's Word - Read it every day.  When you read, read with the attitude of trying to find God's will for your life and apply what you read regularly.  Memorize passages that minister to you.  Find someone that you can ask questions.   Start in the New Testament and do your best to read at least a chapter a day.

3.  Communicate with God consistently.  Prayer works.  God is interested in your life!  Talk to Him about your day.  Tell Him about your temptations, stresses, disappointments, and joys.  Tell Him what you are thankful for.  A relationship always involves communication.  Make sure and take time to listen as well.  God will speak to you!
